THE PAINTED DECORATIONS

The painted decoration of the church is impressive in its variety, its floral motifs and its bright colors which contrast with the geometric coldness of the marble mosaics.

The technique used by the Abbot is that of degreased oil paint applied directly on the stone, on coatings or wooden laths for the ceilings of the chapels. The pigments according to the colors are natural or chemical.

The Abbé fits in with the 19th century style of churches repainted in a medieval style.
